Black River Trading Company

These pieces are created from used 55 gallon steel drums.  The tops and bottoms are cut off and a cut made from top to bottom.  After cleaning and hammering the drum flat the artist is left with a 3’ x 6’ metal “canvas”.  Designs are chalked onto the sheet and then with hammer, chisel and various cutting tools the piece takes shape.  Additional ornamentation is achieved with the use of assorted punches and scribing tools.   The end result is a uniquely Haitian steel drum sculpture for your wall.
