Batik Paintings
Batik is done by first applying wax to the cloth where one doesn’t want the dye to penetrate. Secondly, the cloth is placed into a vat of dye and thirdly, put into very hot water to remove the wax. These 3 steps are repeated for as many times as there are colours, always working from light to darker colours. The Javanese are the undisputed masters of batik ...but do also take a look at the Tanzanian batiks.
All of our batik paintings are available for purchase directly online. There are hundreds of paintings here...check it out!
